Can you say adorable! That is exactly how I would describe my niece or nephew-to-be’s baby shower. Everything coordinated with the new nursery decor, everything from the chevron pattern to the colors used. The cake was just stunning as were the elephant cookies that matched. There were even teensy yellow baby elephants.
We found most of the ideas on Pinterest from my sister-in-law’s own boards and pins. (Side Note: if you need ideas for someone, look them up on Pinterest and check out their boards. It’s very useful information. You’re welcome!)
Diaper cakes are so green in my humble opinion. They are a beautiful decoration, then a gift and of course extremely useful. The owl diaper cake was something I hadn’t made before but being the DIY junky that I am, I experimented and came up with the below diaper owl, which is made up of diapers, socks, wash cloths, car seat cover, and bib.
Games are always the last thing I want to think about. They are usually boring (yawn) or downright ridiculous, especially if you don’t know all of the other guests. So, in the hunt for a few games, here are the ones we went with: Diaper Notes, Gender Guess and My Water Broke (not pictured, and also the one I was the most unsure about, but ended up being the most fun and wow, do woman get creative).
The prize or gifts for winning the game and drawing were bottles of Barefoot Wine, which conveniently have a cute footprint on them. And last but surely not least, one of my favorite decorations is the owl canvas painting that my oldest daughter made for her new cousin, melts my momma heart (I had to supervise and assist a bit).
Although throwing parties are exhausting, in the end they are also so rewarding. My love language (great read by the way, Five Love Languages) is giving gifts. I absolutely find happiness in researching and coming up with exactly what I think the recipient would desire. It makes me smile and hopefully them too.
