It is one thing to go searching for a book, but when a book finds you at just the right time - you know it's going to be a good read and possibly a divine intervention! If you follow me on instagram, then you know that the day this book came in the mail was the same day my youngest daughter ended up in the ER from a weird fall. She had hit her head and was diagnosed with a concussion. On the same day, my grandfather was air lifted to the hospital due to having a stroke and a few days later my dad ended up in the emergency room with chest pain. To say we had a couple of days of not-so-great circumstances, is a bit of an understatement. I was in desperate need of peace and "confident conversations with God"!
So, I opened She Prays which is really a 31 day devotional but I tend to do devotionals a bit different. I simply cannot read just one day. When the words are just so real and full of truth - you simply can't stop! Praying has always been the part of my spiritual walk that I lean in to most. My brain is on constant overload and tends to never stop racing, so prayer is one of the few things that I can do to quiet my mind. But sometimes I hit this place where it seems as though my words are just floating into thin air and although I push through, I still feel left grasping for answers or questions that seem to go unanswered. Debbie Lindell breaks it down day by day with seeds of wisdom that are relatable, backed by scripture and followed by a question or thought provoking statement for you to ponder. One that I have gone back to is on Day 23, where she reminds us through scripture that God is always there and never leaves you. Prayer is not performance based but faith driven.
If you feel stuck in your prayers or maybe you don't even know where to begin with prayer, She Prays is a great guide to get you started. It's a resource packed full of scriptures specifically relating to prayer. I highly recommend you grab a highlighter and pen for marking this one up! And that is not something I usually do in books.
